 Lawrence Gaunt qualified as an optometrist from Bradford University in 1968.
He opened Lawrence Gaunt Opticians in the Holt Park Centre 10 years later and in the ensuing 29 years has built a successful practice based on high standards of care and attention to his patients.
The full eye examination is complemented by a computer test chart which enables us to assess the vision of children, adults and people with learning disabilities (and for the children it is fun to use).
The eye examination includes glaucoma screening using the Reichart non-contact tonometer and Henson visual field screener and we have recently acquired a Kowa fundus camera which enables us, without the use of eyedrops, to screen for diseases such as diabetes, glaucoma and macular degeneration, keeping a record of the examination so that we can assess any subtle changes in ensuing visits.
If we then feel that spectacles would be of benefit, we will advise you of the most suitable frames and lenses for your needs. To help you when making your selection we are able to photograph you in up to 4 frames at a time so that you can see how you look on a screen.
For those people with greater visual difficulty we have a large range of Eschenbach magnifiers.
Our contact lens practitioner, Mr. Howard Taylor, takes particular care in the supply and fitting of a wide choice of contact lenses.
For those of you unable to visit the Practice, home visits are available.
Lawrence Gaunt Opticians provides optical services in Leeds, including home visits for the elderly and disabled. We supply designer eyewear, including Adidas, Dior, Marc Jacobs frames and more.
